I loved these evocative poems, that span a range of subjects, from environmental destruction, to family, to love, to archeology and language. My favorites were Labrador, A Labrador Duck, One Swallow, Down, and Tibet 1959- I intend to come back to some of these poems, which bear re-reading. I didn't notice the notes on the poems at the end until I had finished the book, alas! I wish that they had been placed as footnotes with the poems themselves.

This is a collection of 20 generous, masterfully crafted poems with brilliant imagery and hugely wide-ranging subject matter. Each poem is exquisitely evocative, and calls for close reading.
