Reason for Reading: Ds read aloud to me as his non-fiction reader.I like this series of readers. The non-fiction ones. They come with DK's expected usual style and excellent photography. The story is told in a simple narrative style making it interesting and informative. There are occasional fact boxes with extra bits of information about a topic mentioned on that page. Though my son refuses to read these, saying they are my part perhaps because of the slightly smaller text size. This book exami [...]
The use of photography in this non-fiction book make it informative and interesting for the reader. This would be a great read aloud to a class when giving a lesson about animals. I would read it aloud to a kindergarten or first grade, but independent read for a second or third grader. The book has captions on each page of different aspects of a vet office, or information on an animal present in the book. The book also has a great references in the back of the book giving details about each anim [...]
DK readers are some of my favorites. I love the real photographs and the realistic plots. In Animal Hospital we found a simple story about two of our favorite things: veterinarians and animals. Win-win!
This is a colorful, beginning-reader introduction to the work at a busy veterinary clinic. A variety of animals are cared for, with additional info boxes containing animal facts and pet care tips.
Jack enjoyed the story about the injured duck and exploring the hospital and did well with this book.
This is a great read for an advanced Kindergarten reader. (Level 2 Book)
A fun little book about a veterinary clinic. It's too bad the way they treated the rabbit is not considered good medicine now. I like the book anyway.
