$1.49Even though I was born in the US, Canada has always had a part of my heart since my dad was born and raised there before coming to America. What is it about Canadians that make them different from Americans? Aren't they the same? Yes and no. Like all the other Chicken Soup books: this is a compilation of stories about Canadians, and I think it does an accurate job of defining what it means to be Canadian. Some of these stories were familiar, and others were completely new to me. A few had ma [...]
one or two stories within are worth reading. maybe a handful represent canada to me in any way. the prose starting each section is terrible. the sheer amount of hockey tales is embarrassing. and not even GOOD hockey stories, at that. one was literally just about people watching a game. and not with a family bickering or some overtone of coming together. it was just a trite one page piece of kindling. i am the weepiest, most sentimental person in the world and these books usually have me sobbing [...]
I love Canada and am a very proud Canadian, I read this book during quiet times at work. I enjoyed the bits about traveling in Canada, weather in Canada and the meeting of kind fellow Canadians. I did find there was a bit too much hockey for me, there is far more to my Canada than just hockey, but, this is an easy and enjoyable read, especially if you are really into hockey ;)
These stories may stir the spirit toward compassion and energize the mind pf reader's, Canadian or not.
I can't actually review this book. I'm such a sap that I tear up at uplifting and inspirational stories.
